We had a client reach out to us in search of a custom torque collar. The torque measurement device needed to be attached to a shaft in a mixing tank, located between the motor and the impeller. This device was required to wirelessly transmit data to a PC positioned near the tank.
Our team designed, built and installed the torque measurement device, which included creating a custom housing for a small wireless node and batteries. This torque collar featured a strain gauge under the custom collar to ensure it was protected from environmental conditions. We ensured that both the torque collar and the strain gauges were capable of handling the specific environment in which they would be used, as well as withstanding the rotation and centrifugal force encountered during normal operation. Our team conducted thorough testing of the collar to confirm its effectiveness in the intended application.
Our whole process involved designing and manufacturing the housing, installing and integrating the internal components, bonding the strain gauges with adequate protection, and conducting an on-site installation and calibration of the entire measurement system. The custom torque collar worked perfectly for our client, and they received the data that they were looking for.
